Sam's star began to rise in the last year of his Optimist League career with the Lauderhill Lions 125 lb team.
Because of his stellar performance on both sides of the ball, Sam was a finalist for Athlete of the Year.
As an incoming freshman, he was sought out by numerous schools across the tri-county area. He ultimately attended University School for the 2012 and 2013 school years. During the spring game of his freshman year, he was so outstanding that he earned five D1 offers in a single day.
He later transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas for the 2014 and 2015 seasons and was a member of three high school state championship teams. He ultimately earned more than 40 D1 offers, but his heart was home with the University of Miami, where he enrolled in the fall of 2016.

Played the 2012 and 2013 seasons at University School. After a stellar spring game closing out his freshman year, Sam picked up 5 D1 offers in a single day. Transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas for the 2014 and 2015 seasons, was a member of 3 high school state championship teams, racked up 40+ D1 offers, and committed to the University of Miami.

The scholarship will be awarded live annually.

Every year the community pulls up in neon green to bowl, eat, laugh, and keep Sam's energy alive. Families, athletes, and friends — all on one set of lanes. Beginning in 2026, Bowling Night moves from August to Thanksgiving Eve annually.
For three years, the annual Jersey Jam has brought the block together with food, music, family, and the Samborghini6ix crew on the front line.
